As part of our 8 day tour of the southeast and midwest, we stopped at Mt Roosevelt in Tennessee as it was very easy to access from I-40. Considering we had been in the car for a few hours, it was nice to get out and make some contacts. The drive up to the summit is pretty straight forward. At the top, there is limited parking. Luckily we were the only people up there at that time.
My wife worked on making lunch which I got on 2 meters and make contacts with the locals. I did snag one guy in Georgia (AE1MS) which was pretty cool. Since we had to continue on to Nashville, I didn’t have time to get on HF. If you do operate HF, there are plenty of trees to hang an antenna.
