Mt Greylock, Ma
Mount Greylock, MA (W1/MB-001) is a summit located in the northwest corner of Massa and is a well known landmark in the area. I had been trying to complete a summit in MA for several years, and Mt Greylock seemed like a good one to activate. Due to the drive up road and general popularity, I knew it would be busy on a nice October weekend day.

I decided to keep it simple and activate on 2m simplex. Carving out an area to set up and more importantly being able to rotate my Yagi antenna around was a little difficult. Apparently the spot that was open with great views and perfect for my needs not surprisingly attracted everyone else.
Like many busy summits before, once I busted my black antenna and started waving it around, the people of the Commonwealth parted ways. Considering the the popular demand for lack of freedom in MA, I’m surprised I wasn’t arrested for operating a radio without the official ten different stamped state permits, environmental assessments, ad nauseam.
Nevertheless, I completed my activation and headed back to the car. The state of MA has been activated and that is good enough for me.
